Nuclear Power in New Zealand?

We all know about Nuclear Power

Fukushima Nuclear Power Explosion

Everyone knows that Nuclear Power is a good, clean way to power our wonderful computers, televisions, games consoles, street lighting, network and internet and thousands and thousands of other things all powered by good ol’ electricity.

Nuclear Power lately has not been given a very good press due to the explosions and damage being caused by neighboring Japan. This is not the fault of the Japanese people or government, or is it? What do you think? Have they not done something wring? Should of Japan of put in place a better and more fail-safe plan to protect its people, the surrounding countries and the rest of the world?

Many people out there think that now all this radiation has been leaked out into the sea, we will all have our fair share of the radiation and its poisoning. But do we all deserve our fair share? Surely the people in France (for example) who do not get their power or have anything to do with Japans nuclear power should’nt be given a dose of radiation, or anyone else who has not benefited from Japan having nuclear power, should we all have to suffer because Japan decided that Nuclear Power was the way they wanted to go? I dont think so.

So what next? Should we all stock up on Potassium Iodide in case any radiation drifts our way? Well im sure it wouldnt hurt if we did take these precautions and stocked up on a few of the essentials. Apparently the US Government has started to buy up stock of Potassium Iodide (See Daily Mail 21st March 2011: U.S. State Department offers anti-radiation drug to its workers in Japan as a precaution), maybe this is what we all should do, just-in-case….?
